If your husband hasn’t yet come right out and said that he wants to separate or get a divorce, he may already be thinking about it and making a decision. If you’re reading this blog post then you may already have an idea but aren’t certain. Hopefully I can shed more light by telling you the tell-tale signs that your husband is thinking about leaving you.
If you’re husband always seems to be too busy to make any plans with you then he is clearly avoiding you because he’s not yet sure how he is feeling. Whether he has already made up his mind and is scared to tell you or whether he is still confused, he likely wants to avoid interaction with you as much as possible so will keep himself busy.
If you have noticed lately that your husband has been paying more attention to his appearance than usual and has even changed his appearance then his mind may be in another place. I’m not saying that he is cheating or that he will cheat but think about it; when you were single you always made more of an effort on your appearance to impress others. While it is painful to hear, him changing his appearance may be a sign that he wants to grab the attentions of others.
If you feel that your husband no longer shows you any loving feelings such as tickling your back, giving you cuddles or taking you out then he may be thinking about divorce or separation. This only really applies if you’re husband has always given you cuddles or tickled your back in the morning. If a usual loving habit stops then take it as a warning sign.
If all activity in the bedroom seems to have stopped then it should be a little red flag that something is wrong. Again, this only applies if your sex life has always been active and this is a noticeable change in behavior on his part.
If you attempt to make plans with him such as going for dinner or booking a holiday and he always seems to come with an excuse for why he can’t then something could be wrong. If he is finding excuses not to go for dinner or go on holiday then he may be avoiding spending time with you. This could be because he has already decided he wants to leave you or because he is feeling confused about how he is feeling and is trying to avoid you until he decides.
If he starts mentioning going out with friends that you haven’t heard of before then it could be a sign that he is up to something. There is absolutely nothing wrong with meeting new people however it could potentially be a cover story because he knows you’ll find out if he says he has is going out with his regular friends because you talk to their wives and girlfriends.
Now that you know that your husband wants to leave you, how you act on this will make a huge difference. Your initial reaction undoubtedly will be to be upset or even angry but before you react on impulse, take some time to think about it. To help you avoid any mistakes at this point, I have listed some things you shouldn’t do.
If you don’t want him to leave you then your initial reaction to him wanting to leave is to beg him to stay. This is one of the worst things you could do though. While this is new to you, your husband may have been thinking about this for months or even years and so begging him isn’t going to work.
If you’re husband wants to leave you because of a particular reason such as you having an affair, if you complain too much or because you easily lose your temper then stop doing it. If you know what it is that is pushing him away then you need stop doing it if you want to try and win him back.
You’re husband has probably already put himself under a lot of pressure and so adding more pressure onto him isn’t going to help things. While it will be incredibly hard to do, you must give him some space and let him think for himself. Adding pressure on him will only lead him to wanting to move further away from you.
One of the best things you can do is to think about what it is that makes your husband want to leave and fully understand it. There is no point on being defensive at this point as again, it will not help to resolve anything. Working on making changes in a positive way is the best way to try and stop him from leaving.
Even though your husband may want to leave you, he may also be willing to work things out if you are. In this case, the best thing you can do is to seek professional help so that you can have a kind of mediator who can have an unbiased view of your relationship. A professional will be able to get to the route of the problem and help you both come back together with minimal arguments.
